Intercruises proudly supports World Environment Day 2016 (WED 2016), an annual event celebrated every year on June 5th to raise global awareness, take positive environmental action, protect the planet. This year the theme is to end illegal wildlife trading that is stripping the Earth’s precious biodiversity and endangering species to the point of extinction .
In support of Animal Protection, Intercruises is implementing new sustainable certificates with an external third part authority at 13 Intercruises offices and 69 ports globally. Additionally, Intercruises risk assessments on wildlife tours are based on the Five Freedoms recommendations on animal welfare set out by the World Organisation by Animal Health (OIE):
1. FREEDOM FROM HUNGER AND THIRST
2. FREEDOM FROM DISCOMFORT
3. FREEDOM FROM PAIN, INJURY OR DISEASE
4. FREEDOM TO EXPRESS NORMAL BEHAVIOUR
5. FREEDOM FROM FEAR AND DISTRESS
