  • We need to work in reassuring North American passengers that Europe is safe.
  • Med can from from Northern Europe’s streamlined processes, berthing & procedures
  • We need to make Northern Europe much more interesting for younger passengers
  • Trump is business oriented and not a threat to cruise in Cuba and in general
  • Joint strategy between ports & cities needed to ensure a long term benefits for region
  • Cruise only attracting 25m pax a year compared to a 1.2bn global tourism industry
  • Pullmantur will invest in Canary Islands cruises dedicated to the Spanish market

Panel Conclusions:

  • Guests buying independently through private tour operators are increasing annually
  • Need to devise a strategy on how to monetise independent travellers
  • Independent / online operators  are the sign that the passengers want choice
  • The old way of booking and delivering tours needs to be re-evaluated.
  • Tour operators need to create programs that avoid congested destinations
  • Cruise lines cannot be experts on every region and rely on Tour operators knowledge
  • Cruise lines need to better sell tours (other than city highlights tours)
  • We need to continue to differentiate between the nationalities on board
