We are thrilled to announce that Intercruises has recently signed the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism – a fundamental frame of reference for responsible and sustainable tourism.
Implemented by the World Tourism Organization and recognized by the United Nations, the set of principles is considered a comprehensive point of reference for key-players in the tourism industry and aims to “maximize the sector’s benefits while minimizing its potentially negative impact on the environment, cultural heritage and societies across the globe.”
The document was signed at a special ceremony at the FITUR 2018 International Tourism Fair in Madrid by Intercruises’ Managing Director Olga Piqueras, who attended the event alongside Sustainable Development Executive Andrea Gonzalez Romero.
The Code’s 10 principles comprehensively cover the economic, social, cultural and environmental components of travel and tourism.
“This document reinforces Intercruises’ ongoing commitment to sustainable development in our industry, and our endeavour to conform to the best practices when it comes to respecting the environment, communities and cultures within which we operate.” – Olga Piqueras, Managing Director
